Do you have solar?
Panels on the roof means your AI runs on electrons you already paid for. Not required — SDG&E works too, it just costs more per answer.
Do you handle sensitive files?
Client records, patient data, case files, financials, CUI. This is usually the reason cloud AI is off the table in the first place.
Where do your files live today?
Be honest — "a mix of everything" is the most common answer and it's fine.
What would local AI actually help with?
The real daily stuff: drafting letters, summarizing case files, answering "where is X," intake forms, chart notes, contract review.
What can never leave the office?
Name the files or data that must not touch a cloud service, ever. That boundary is what we design around.
What hardware budget is tolerable?
You own the box — that's the point. One-time cost, no per-seat rent, typical range $2-6k depending on what the workflows need.
Who owns maintenance?
Somebody has to keep it updated, backed up, and talking to your other tools. That's the part SideGuy doesn't leave after.
