Belly Up Presents is the booking series the Belly Up Tavern team programs across three rooms — the original Belly Up in Solana Beach (across from the Coaster station, in the old Quonset hut, ~600 cap, the iconic NCSD coastal music venue) plus their two downtown San Diego rooms, Music Box (Little Italy, 2-floor cap-700-ish, balcony seating) and The Sound (a smaller indie-leaning room). Same crew, three rooms, very different vibes. This calendar covers May 15 → May 30, 2026 — country, indie, hip-hop, reggae, EDM throwback, and a couple sleeper picks. Tickets and final show details: bellyup.com.

Hard-edged Detroit honky-tonk · the kind of country show where the Belly Up's bar runs hot and the back patio fills up by the second song. Already sold out — if you don't have a ticket, the resale market is the only door.
Late-doors dance night at Music Box leaning on the late-2010s EDM canon — Avicii / Swedish House / festival-anthem era. Different audience than the rest of this calendar; if you came up on Coachella 2014-era main stages, this is your weekend warm-up.
with The Girl! · the apple tree under the sea tour
One of the more interesting indie-pop breakouts of the last couple years — internet-native, art-school sharp, and the kind of artist whose live show is starting to outpace the streaming numbers. Music Box is the right room for her — the balcony sightlines are made for this kind of performance. Strong sleeper pick.
Community-concert programming — the Belly Up does these benefit/community nights a few times a year and they're a different energy than a touring-act show. Local angle, full room of people who actually know each other. Worth knowing the room hosts these, even if you don't go.
La Voie du Lux · An Evening of Diamonds and Dust · Seated show
Seated configuration at the Belly Up — the room flips for these and the energy is closer to a listening-room than a bar. If you've never seen the Belly Up in seated mode, it's a different venue entirely. Sunday-night intimate.
Disney-pipeline-into-singer-songwriter pivot — the kind of Monday-night show where the crowd is mostly fans-of-the-artist rather than fans-of-the-room. Expect a different demographic than the rest of this stretch. Solid for the audience that came for it.
One of the most critically respected indie songwriters of the last decade · the kind of artist Pitchfork-era listeners build their whole concert year around. The fact that this is at The Sound (smaller room) instead of the Belly Up means it'll be intimate — and probably the show this whole stretch's serious-music crowd is most excited about. Agriculture's "metal" tag is its own thing — go in open.

Americana / alt-country crossover with a TikTok-sized following — the kind of bill where three artists each pull their own crowd and you discover two new ones by the end of the night. Music Box's main floor handles this format well.
Listed here for honesty so the calendar is complete — the May 22 27 Club tribute night was cancelled. If you bought tickets, refund flows through wherever you purchased. Belly Up's site has the official statement.
Reggae night at the Belly Up — Collie Buddz is the longstanding Bermudian roots-reggae act with deep crossover into the SoCal scene. Through The Roots are local SD reggae royalty as the support, which means the room will be packed with people who know every word. The Belly Up is built for this kind of show — open floor, good sound, beach-town energy.
Co-headline night between two of the most lyrically respected hip-hop artists of the streaming era — Smino out of St. Louis, Saba out of Chicago, both critically heavy, both with cult fanbases that travel. This is probably the biggest show of the stretch, and the kind of bill where the Belly Up's intimate-room scale is the actual selling point — most cities they play this in a 2,000-cap. Don't sleep.
Belly Up = the iconic NCSD room. Quonset hut · ~600 cap · across from the Solana Beach Coaster station · open floor with a horseshoe bar wrap and back patio. Best for shows where you want to feel the room, not just hear the act. First-timer move: arrive 30 min before doors, grab a spot at the bar against the back wall, then push toward the stage when the headliner starts.
Music Box = downtown SD, balcony room. Little Italy · two floors · the upstairs balcony has actual seating and great sightlines. Best for indie/listening shows like hemlocke springs. Park: Little Italy garages or street meters off India · don't try to find a spot on India itself.
The Sound = smaller indie room downtown. Where the Belly Up team programs the more intimate / left-of-center bookings (like Alex G this stretch). Tighter, more focused listening environment.
Coaster to Belly Up is the move. NCTD Coaster + Amtrak Pacific Surfliner both stop at Solana Beach Station · ~5 min walk to Belly Up across Highway 101. Saves the post-show parking exit and the don't-drive-home question.
Pre-show food in Solana Beach: Bull Taco (Cardiff, short drive south) · Lofty Coffee (around the corner from Belly Up) · Pizza Port (walking distance, classic pre-show) · Naked Café · Claire's on Cedros for sit-down. Eat before, not after.
Pre-show food in Little Italy (Music Box / Sound nights): Little Italy has more food density than any other SD neighborhood — arrive 90 min early, walk Date or Fir, pick whatever has the line that looks worth it.
Best night for first-timers this stretch:Collie Buddz on Thu May 28 — reggae + Belly Up + beach-town energy is the most "what is the Belly Up" experience on the calendar. Smino x Saba on May 30 if you want the cultural-moment night. Alex G at The Sound if you want the smaller-room, listen-closely experience.
Sold out doesn't mean done. The Belly Up box office releases held tickets day-of for some shows, and the resale market on legitimate platforms is usually live. Don't pay the third-party-broker markup on the sketchy sites.
