โก Decision Packet โ EV
Level 1 or Level 2 Charger?
Level 1 takes 3 days to fully charge. Level 2 takes 8 hours. The answer depends on one number.
Decision Packet โ EV
TL;DR: Level 1 (standard 120V outlet) works if you drive under ~30 miles a day. Anything more and you need Level 2 (240V, 8-hour full charge) โ otherwise you'll wake up short. Most homes need a panel check before install. PJ at SideGuy (Encinitas) reads electrician + charger bids free before you commit. Text 858-461-8054.

The Daily Miles Test
Under 40 miles/day: Level 1 (120V plug) is sufficient. Over 40 miles: Level 2 is non-negotiable.

Install Cost Reality
Level 2 install in SD: $600โ$1,400 depending on panel distance and permit. Budget $1k.

Panel Check First
Level 2 needs a 240V, 40โ50A circuit. If your panel is at capacity: upgrade first.
