The BREEZE 101 runs down the coast from Solana Beach to UC San Diego with no transfer; board near Solana Beach Station. Epstein Family Amphitheater is at 9500 Gilman Drive, UC San Diego. Going by Coaster means riding south to Old Town and back north on the trolley, so the bus is the direct way.
