Not an emergency alert. In an emergency call 911 and follow AlertSanDiego / ReadySanDiego. The official maps are the source of truth; this check reads them for you. It is not a real estate Natural Hazard Disclosure report.
Your address goes from your phone straight to the County's address map and the official hazard maps. SideGuy never sees it or stores it.
The four maps
- Flood: FEMA's National Flood Hazard Layer. Zones starting with A or V are Special Flood Hazard Areas (the 100-year flood); a mortgage from a federally regulated or insured lender requires flood insurance there. FEMA Flood Map Service Center.
- Fire: CAL FIRE's Fire Hazard Severity Zones, the 2025 map for cities and the 2023 map for State Responsibility Area land. Fire zone check and what it means.
- Tsunami: the California Geological Survey's tsunami hazard area, the zone that would evacuate in a large tsunami. CGS tsunami maps.
- Earthquake fault: the State's Alquist-Priolo Earthquake Fault Zones, about the ground rupturing along an active fault. In San Diego they follow the Rose Canyon fault through the La Jolla and Point Loma map areas, plus faults in the east county. Alquist-Priolo program.
- Plus your evacuation zone: the County's zone map, so you know the name evacuation warnings and orders will use. Live status lives on Genasys Protect.
- Plus the power-shutoff district: the CPUC's High Fire-Threat District (Tier 2 elevated, Tier 3 extreme), where SDG&E's public safety power shutoffs are focused.

Questions people ask
How do I check if my San Diego home is in a flood zone?
Type your address above. It reads FEMA's National Flood Hazard Layer and shows the zone: A or V zones are Special Flood Hazard Areas where a federally backed mortgage requires flood insurance; shaded X is moderate; X is minimal.
Is my home in a tsunami zone?
The check reads the California Geological Survey's tsunami hazard area. Low beach neighborhoods such as Mission Beach are inside it; many bluff-top homes in North County are not. Check your exact address above.
Are there earthquake fault zones in San Diego?
Yes. The State's Alquist-Priolo Earthquake Fault Zones follow the Rose Canyon fault through the La Jolla and Point Loma map areas, plus faults in the east county. The check tells you whether your address is inside one.
Is this the same as a Natural Hazard Disclosure report?
No. It reads the same public maps for you, but a home sale uses a formal Natural Hazard Disclosure statement. Use this to know before you ask.
