Where to watch
- Fletcher Cove Beach Park, 111 S Sierra Ave, Solana Beach: grass and benches on the bluff and a ramp to the sand, about a 10-minute walk from Solana Beach Station. The open ocean horizon is a good place to look for the green flash on a clear evening.
- Tide Beach Park, Solana Vista Dr at Pacific Ave: stairs down to a reef beach; on low-tide evenings the tide pools open up.
- Powerhouse Park and Seagrove Park, Coast Blvd in Del Mar: lawn over the beach, a short walk from the Del Mar shops and restaurants.
- Cardiff State Beach along Highway 101: watch from the sand, then dinner on Restaurant Row.
