The gap is the generation price: Clean Impact 13.62¢ vs Clean Impact Plus 17.59¢ a kWh. Runs on your phone; nothing is sent anywhere.

What you trade

Clean Impact is at least 50% renewable; the default is 55% renewable and 75% carbon-free; Green Impact is 100% renewable for a little more. SDG&E still delivers the power and sends the bill either way. Which mix is worth the difference is your call.

The fix: switching takes a few minutes

  1. Find your SDG&E account number (on your SDG&E bill, or in My Account). CEA asks for 13 digits: if yours has 11, add two zeros in front and drop the last digit.
  2. Fill in CEA's opt-down form (English or Spanish).
  3. Changed your mind? CEA says you can switch back to Clean Impact Plus at any time. Questions: accountservices@thecleanenergyalliance.org.

Or do it with PJ: he pulls the account number from My Account, fills in the form with you, and checks your rate plan and the November 1 winter change while he's there. Text PJ.

Every other way to cut the bill: lower your SDG&E bill. In Encinitas or the City of San Diego? San Diego Community Power is the default provider and publishes its own joint rate comparison. More: CARE and FERA · power today.
