How to pay a Del Mar parking ticket, from the City:

  • Online: the City's payment site, PayMyCite.
  • By mail: a check, sent with the citation.
  • In person: Finance Department, City Hall, 1050 Camino del Mar, Monday to Thursday, 7:30am to 5:30pm. Cash, check, Visa or Mastercard.

The fine is printed on the citation; late fees are added if it goes unpaid.

Think it's wrong? Ask for a review

  1. Move fast: California Vehicle Code section 40215 gives you 21 calendar days from the ticket (or 14 days from a delinquent notice) to ask for a review.
  2. Fill out the City's Administrative Review Form and include a copy of the citation, with what proves your side.
  3. Don't pay while it's under review. The City says to check back if you haven't heard in 14 days; after that, call Parking Enforcement at 858-704-3659. Following up is on you, so a missed answer doesn't turn into late fees.
  4. Evidence that helps: a photo of the sign, the curb, the meter or pay station, your payment receipt or app screenshot, a placard.
  5. If the review goes against you, the decision explains the next step (a hearing).

Can't pay it all at once?

California Vehicle Code 40220 requires a low-income payment plan. How Del Mar runs it:

  • Ask any time, with proof of low income. A $5 processing fee; at least $25 a month; up to 24 months.
  • Late fees are waived while you keep up. Miss 45 days and the plan defaults: the late fees come back and a hold goes to the DMV.
  • Not available once the car is booted or towed. The processor's plan page has the application.

Don't get the next one

  • Meters run 8am to 10pm every day, and no car may sit more than 72 hours on a City street or lot.
  • The Civic Center garage at 1050 Camino del Mar is free all day.
  • A disabled placard doesn't make every lot free: the private Powerhouse Park pay lot posts that its fee applies to placards too.
