The iPhone fixes people search for most, in Apple's own steps: spam calls, call screening, a forgotten passcode, Find My, missing verification codes, the Apple Account password, and location. Pick yours.

Stop spam and unknown calls
- Go to Settings, tap Apps, then Phone.
- Turn on Spam: calls your carrier flags as possible spam or fraud are silenced, sent to voicemail and moved to the Spam list.
- Turn on Unknown Callers to move calls from unknown numbers out of Recents. To block one number: Phone app, Contacts, the contact, Block Contact.
Watch out: Expecting a call from a doctor or a delivery? Check the Unknown Callers list, or mark the caller as known. · Apple Support
Turn call screening off (or on)
- Go to Settings, tap Apps, then Phone.
- Choose Never to turn Call Screening off: your iPhone rings for unsaved numbers again.
- Or Ask Reason for Calling (unknown callers say who they are first) or Silence (unsaved numbers go straight to voicemail).
Watch out: Silence sends everyone you haven't saved to voicemail, including a new doctor's office. · Apple Support
Locked out: forgot the iPhone passcode
- Keep entering the passcode until the iPhone Unavailable screen appears, then tap Forgot Passcode? (it only shows with Wi-Fi or cellular and Find My on).
- On the Security Lockout screen tap Start iPhone Reset, then enter your Apple Account password.
- Tap Erase iPhone. When it restarts, set it up again and restore from a backup if you have one.
Watch out: This permanently deletes everything on the phone. What comes back depends on your iCloud or computer backup. · Apple Support
Turn off Find My iPhone (selling or trading it in)
- Go to Settings, tap your name, then Find My.
- Tap Find My iPhone, then turn it off.
- Enter your Apple Account password, then tap Turn Off.
Watch out: No password, no turning it off. Forgot it? Reset the Apple Account password first. · Apple Support
Not getting the verification code text
- On the code screen, tap Didn't Get a Code? or Can't get to your devices?
- Choose to have it sent to your trusted phone number, by text or a phone call from Apple.
- Filtering unknown senders in Messages? Look there: Apple says time-sensitive messages like codes still come through.
Watch out: A code is only for you: never read one to someone who calls or texts asking for it. · Apple Support
Change the Apple Account password
- Open Settings, tap your name, then Sign-In & Security.
- Tap Change Password and follow the steps.
- Choose whether other devices stay signed in, or tap Remove Other Devices to make them sign in again.
Watch out: With Stolen Device Protection you might have to wait one hour before you can change it. · Apple Support
Turn off location for an app (or everything)
- Go to Settings, Privacy & Security, Location Services.
- Tap an app to change its access, or turn off Precise Location to share only an approximate spot.
- The switch at the top turns Location Services off for everything.
Watch out: Apple warns that turning Location Services off stops many important iPhone features. Per-app is usually the better fix. · Apple Support
