Think it's wrong? Ask for a review

  1. Move fast: California Vehicle Code section 40215 gives you 21 calendar days from the ticket (or 14 days from a delinquent notice) to ask for a review.
  2. Submit a Request for Review through the "Contest your Parking Citation" link on the City's Parking Citation Review page. The City emails you to confirm it got it.
  3. Late requests aren't accepted. The City says the window is set by the Vehicle Code: 21 calendar days from the citation, or 14 calendar days from the notice date on the Notice of Parking Violation.
  4. Evidence that helps: a photo of the sign, the curb, the meter or pay station, your payment receipt or app screenshot, a placard.
  5. If the review goes against you, the decision explains the next step (a hearing).

Can't pay it all at once?

California Vehicle Code 40220 requires a low-income payment plan. Ask the City's citation service at 1-800-989-2058 how Oceanside takes the application.
