In Oceanside, water and trash are two different bills: water and sewer come from the City of Oceanside's Utility Billing, and trash and recycling come from WM (Waste Management), the City's hauler.

  • Pay the water bill: online on the City's Utility Billing page (Direct Utility Payment, your 12-digit account number, no enrollment) or by phone any time at (760) 444-4167.
  • Your trash day: on WM's Oceanside page, enter your address and select "Verify." Carts at the curb by 6am on service day.

Paying the Oceanside water bill

  • Online: the City's direct utility payment takes an electronic check, Visa, MasterCard or Discover. You need your 12-digit account number; no enrollment.
  • By phone, any time: the automated system at (760) 444-4167 is available 24/7.
  • Automatic payments (free): the bill is paid from your checking account on the due date. It starts one to six weeks after the City gets your form and a voided check; your first bill will say "Automatic Payment Service, Do Not Pay."
  • Questions, or a bill that looks wrong: Utility Billing, (760) 435-3900.
  • Start or stop water service: call (760) 435-3900 at least two working days before the date, or go in person to 300-C North Ditmar Street (City Hall East).
  • A water emergency, day or night (a break, a leak at the meter box or a hydrant): (760) 435-3900, option 4 during the day, option 1 after hours. A sewer leak on your own property is a plumber's job, the City says.
  • Behind on the bill? The City says water service may be shut off when the current bill, or a payment arrangement, is at least 60 days delinquent. Call Utility Billing before then.

Trash pickup in Oceanside (WM)

  • Holidays: if your day falls on or after New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving or Christmas, pickup is one day late that week.
  • Start service or report a missed pickup: WM's online request (choose "Continue as Guest") or 760-439-2824.
