The County gives flu shots to anyone 6 months and older, insured or not. Here are the North County centers, the free October clinic, at-home shots and what Medicare covers.

No-cost County flu clinic: Thursday, October 22, 12:00 to 3:00pm, Lincoln Acres Community Room, 2717 Granger Ave., National City (16 days away). Everyone 6 months and older.

The County of San Diego gives flu vaccine at its Public Health Centers to anyone 6 months and older, regardless of health coverage. Call ahead to confirm hours and that vaccine is in stock.

North Coastal is the closest to Solana Beach, Del Mar and Encinitas. Some centers take online appointments; call for the rest.

Can't leave the house?

The County's Homebound Vaccine Program brings flu and COVID-19 vaccines to your home at no cost, for San Diego County residents who need another person or medical equipment to leave home. Call 2-1-1 and a representative calls you back. People in the household can get a shot at the same visit.

Have insurance or Medicare?

  • Medicare Part B covers usually one flu shot each season, and you pay nothing if the provider accepts assignment.
  • Your doctor or a pharmacy is usually quickest; find one on Vaccines.gov or MyTurn.
  • Community events in North County run through TrueCare's mobile vaccination program.
