Veterans Day 2026 in North County: what's open, what's closed, and the ceremonies

Veterans Day is Wednesday, November 11, 2026. Closed, by their own 2026 lists: every California DMV office, the County library branches in Solana Beach, Encinitas, Cardiff and Del Mar (closed all day), Solana Beach City Hall and the North County courthouse, and it's on the County's holiday list. No school in Encinitas Union or Del Mar Union. Still running: EDCO trash pickup on your regular day. Banks: the Federal Reserve observes it, so check your branch. Mail: Veterans Day is on the Postal Service's 2026 holiday list. Ceremonies: Oceanside at 10am, Solana Beach at 11am, Escondido's VetFest parade, and the Del Mar-Solana Beach Rotary at 4pm (details).

• Oceanside, 10 to 11:30am: the Veterans Association of North County's Annual Veterans Day Ceremony, 1617 Mission Avenue (VANC's event page, with registration).
• Solana Beach, 11am to noon: the City of Solana Beach and VFW Post 5431's annual ceremony at La Colonia Park, 715 Valley Ave, with the Camp Pendleton Young Marines as color guard, the Santa Fe Christian School band and light refreshments (City of Solana Beach; Parks and Recreation, 858-720-2453).
• Escondido: the 7th Annual North County VetFest and Veterans Day Parade; times, the route and parade sign-up are on North County VetFest.
• Del Mar and Solana Beach, 4 to 6pm: "Veterans Day Ceremony - A Salute to US Special Ops," hosted by the Rotary Club of Del Mar-Solana Beach (the venue is on its event listing).

Each read on the organizer's own 2026 page on November 4, 2026. Carlsbad, Vista, San Marcos and Encinitas hadn't posted a 2026 ceremony we could find; this list adds them when they do.

Each line read on the source's own page on November 3, 2026; the courthouse list on October 15 and EDCO's holiday rules on October 14, 2026.

Veterans Day is on the Postal Service's 2026 holiday list. Its 2026 service notice hadn't posted when we checked on November 3. On Veterans Day 2025 the Postal Service said "All Post Office locations will be closed" and only Priority Mail Express was delivered (USPS, Oct 29, 2025). Mailing something time-sensitive? Send it Tuesday, Nov 10.

These hadn't posted a Nov 11 line we could read on November 3, so call or check their sites:

• Carlsbad and Oceanside city halls and their city libraries (they run their own, not the County's).

2. Library holds or returns? The four County branches are closed all day; book drops vary by branch, so check yours.
3. Trash day on Wednesday? Put the carts out as usual: EDCO doesn't delay for Veterans Day.
4. Mail or a bank errand? Do it Tuesday.
