CMS says eligible people will receive one $90 rebate in October 2026. Most get a direct deposit on or around October 8, followed by an email or letter in mid-October. Some get a paper check from the U.S. Treasury later in October marked "Medicare Improvement Fund Payment; $90 Payment to Offset October Premium."
Who gets it
- People in Original Medicare Part B living in the United States.
- Not people in Medicare Advantage.
- Not people whose Part B premium is paid by Medicaid (Medi-Cal), or who pay the high-income surcharge (IRMAA).
It arrives by direct deposit from Social Security, or by check to the address Medicare has on file.

- Eligibility: 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227).
- Payment status: Social Security, 1-800-772-1213, starting October 15, 2026.
The scam to expect
