A nursing home averages $14,440 a month in California (the State's 2026 average private-pay rate). Not every parent needs that rung. Often the need is part-time help: rides, meals, a hand with bathing, someone on the paperwork. Here's every rung in between, from official sources, so families pay for the help they actually need.
