A traffic ticket from Solana Beach, Encinitas or Del Mar is handled by the San Diego Superior Court. The court mails a reminder notice with the bail amount, the due date and whether you can do traffic school. Act by that date (or the appear-by date on the ticket): pay it, ask for traffic school, or set a court date. City parking tickets are the city's, not the court's: Encinitas · Solana Beach.
Six ways to pay
If an appearance isn't mandatory, the court takes payment:
- Online: the court's "Pay Citation" option.
- Mail: a check or money order payable to "San Diego Superior Court," with a copy of the reminder notice, to the court address on the notice.
- Fax: the completed credit card section of the reminder notice with your request to forfeit bail.
- Express drop box, in person or by phone at the court location on your notice, during business hours.
Paying the bail settles the case, and the court says a conviction then goes on your driving record if it's an offense reported to the DMV. Short on money? The court has a payment options and financial hardship page.

Traffic school
- Who can't: anyone who went to traffic school for a violation within 18 months of this one, and commercial drivers who were in a commercial vehicle.
- What it costs at the court: the total bail plus $52, shown on the reminder notice as the "Traffic School" amount. The school charges its own fee too.
- What it does: the court says it "DOES NOT result in a dismissal." The conviction is reported to the DMV, but for a non-commercial license one conviction in any 18-month period may be held confidential and kept off your record when you finish traffic school.
